L.B. Publishing accepts unsolicited manuscripts for publishing consideration under our Hybrid model. We offer three packages if your book is selected for publication. We are looking for serious writers only and we do not publish all manuscripts submitted to us. We will read the first six chapters of your manuscript and only request the full manuscript if we are interested.
Our Selection Process:
We highly vet titles that we consider for publishing. If we have selected your title for publishing, we will email you after full manuscript review and schedule a time to talk through the publisher package that you want to proceed with. A contract is sent after this consultation. Submissions are open to clean women's fiction, contemporary fiction, historical fiction, legal thrillers, crime fiction, cozy mysteries, chit lit, young adult, sci-fi, and non-fiction (no religion or politics). All submissions must be free from the use of profanity or sex.
What We Do Not Publish
We will not consider paranormal, erotica, werewolves, zombies, magic, political, cookbooks, children's books, poetry, memoirs, or religious books. Please be sure not to submit manuscripts that are on these subjects as they will not be read. Please do not call us with an inquiry. Voicemails will not be returned.
What to Submit to Us:
Send a Query letter via email in one Word doc/PDF that includes the following:
Your legal name
Your pen name
Your mailing address
Your telephone number
Your Bio Your website (if available)
Synopsis and Blub:
Please include a book synopsis (overview of the manuscript that includes the opening, main characters, and conflicts, and how the book ends) with no more than 500 words. The blurb is the text that will go on the back of your book. No more than 250 words.
Your Manuscript:
Please include the first six chapters of your manuscript (12 pt, Times Roman, Double-Spaced) in your submissions packet to us.
Social Media:
Please include your social media outreach. We will prepare social media graphics for you to publish to your social media accounts if selected for publishing.
Royalties:
Our authors earn well above industry standards for most Hybrid Publishers. You will earn 80% (based on the total net profits we receive from each book (digital, paperback, hardcover) in royalties (royalties checks begin once a minimum of $50.00 in sales has been reached and are sent on a quarterly basis). We earn 10% royalties on books that we published (as of 2018) and provide full reporting of every copy sold on a quarterly basis. Our eBook distributor collects 10% (they make your eBook available for Libraries to purchase, and more).
Purchasing Copies of Your Book:
You are not required to buy copies of your book, we will send copies of your book to you as part of our publishing package (as indicated). If you do decide to purchase books for your own use (book fairs, book signings, etc.,), you will receive the actual print cost we receive, plus any shipping and handling the printer charges. We do not place a markup on printed copies that you order. Whatever we are charged, that is what you will pay. We can have printed books shipped to any residential or commercial location within the United States.
After the first year, you will be billed $25 annually to remain in the Ingram System (this is what we are charged) and $50 annually (hosting and domain) for your website, if we created it. However, if your book sells 200 or more copies, the first year, we will cover the hosting and domain costs for your site, that we manage. If you have your own website or create your own, you will be responsible for any costs associated. We will continue to use social media, newsletters, and other forms of media outreach to market your book after the first year.
Our books can be published in digital, (.mobi and ePub) paperback, hardcover (with dust cover). --- Electronic submissions only. Please do not mail us a printed copy of your full manuscript (Unless requested) as these will be discarded and not read.
